FTCA: Has your health center started its redeeming application for 2021 coverage?

Hello Friends!

Here is some info that we thought you might find useful, in case you missed it. (Note: Info copied directly from HRSA email.)

All Health Center and Volunteer Health Professional (VHP) Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA) Programs redeeming applications for FTCA coverage for CY 2021 are due by July 13, 2020, 11:59 PM ET, and must be submitted electronically through the FTCA deeming application within the HRSA EHBs at https://grants.hrsa.gov/webExternal/. Health centers that are deemed, and who may also currently sponsor deemed VHPs, must reapply annually for continued FTCA coverage.

If your health center does not submit an FTCA application by 11:59pm EST on July 13, 2020, you will have to reapply as an initial applicant and may be subject to a site visit prior to obtaining deeming approval for CY 2021 coverage. This also means that you may have a gap in coverage, which would require you to obtain coverage from another malpractice provider until your application is reviewed and approved. Again, if your health center fails to meet the deadline, you should consider purchasing private medical malpractice insurance to cover any gaps in coverage that may occur.

Resources

The following resources are available to facilitate the preparation and submission of your redeeming application:

*Please note: Health centers are required to demonstrate compliance with these requirements in their application submission.*
