Steven D. Weinman, Principal
After receiving his MBA from the University of Florida in 1981, Steve worked in Management Advisory Services at the accounting firm of Coopers and Lybrand (now Price Waterhouse Coopers), assisting clients in selection and implementation of computer software. From 1984-2013, Steve enjoyed a career at Collier Health Services (CHS), a Migrant and Community Health Center (CHC) in Southwest Florida. Beginning as the IT Director of a program with only one full-time site and a budget of $3 million, he ultimately ran a $30 million program with thirteen sites, including a Ronald McDonald Care Mobile.
From 1984-1988, Steve redesigned all CHS processes and produced custom practice management software. Beginning with his 1988 promotion to CFO until 2007, he worked to grow the program significantly. Also during this time, he became a nationally known expert in CHC IT and finance, serving on numerous committees and speaking at many conferences. In 1988, he formed Community Health Solutions, Inc., and began performing part-time work including IT, strategic planning, board training, grant writing and HRSA Primary Care Effectiveness Reviews (PCERs).
During this period Steve rose first to Vice President, and then Senior Vice President of CHS. He also served for two years as the CEO of a new start CHC in Southeast Florida, and for five years as the founding CEO of the Community Health Centers Alliance, a health center controlled network in Florida. In 2005, he was elected Treasurer of the board of the National Center for Farmworker Health (NCFH), a post that he still holds today.
In 2007, Steve was promoted to CHS Executive VP/COO. In this role, he was responsible for all operations of the organization, supervising the nearly three hundred staff members (all except the CEO). During this period he worked with Aetna to develop Integral Quality Care, a CHS controlled not-for-profit Medicaid managed care plan. In addition, he recruited several talented senior staff members, who coalesced into an effective management team.
In 2013, Steve retired from CHS and joined John Ruiz as the second Principal of FQHC Associates.
