» New Users, please read this section to see how you can join FQHC.ORG for FREE! |
This site is designed to be an online community geared towards professionals working for or with Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs). These organizations are also known as Community Health Centers, or CHCs. In order to make FQHC.ORG a place for people involved in our industry, we are going to verify that everyone in the community has a legitimate interest in providing health care to the underserved. If you are associated with an FQHC, or related entity, registration is easy and it is free! Click here or anywhere you see register now and answer a few short questions. Your registration will be validated, and if you qualify you will be enrolled. It’s that simple.
You may have noticed a lack of content on the site. Once you are registered, you will have access to all relevant content. We have several general forums to start. The system is very flexible, so we can add region, state or even health center organization specific forums as needed.
When registering you will notice that we require your name and organization. We understand that sometimes you may want to ask or answer a question anonymously. FQHC.ORG will provide the ability to do so. More information will be provided upon registration.
I have been involved with CHCs for nearly 25 years. One characteristic of our movement is an almost universal willingness to share information and experiences, and help one another. FQHC.ORG is a tool to provide a venue for collaboration.
If you don’t qualify, but would like to find out more about the Community Health Center program, The Rural Assistance Center has a very good site that explains the program nicely.
If you are a health care consumer looking for a Community Health Center in your area, the Health Resource and Services Administration of the US government has a great site, Find a Health Center which will help you out. Community Health Centers are one of the best kept secrets in the country; there is no better medical home for you and your family! Spread the word.

» Changes to FQHC.org are coming |
|
- by Steve Weinman

It seemed like a good idea at the time. Build a community where FQHCs can share information and post questions about issues concerning our industry and the members will come. So about 18 months ago I sent invitations to the people I knew, and quickly signed up over 150 members. A success!
Well, not really. Plenty came and signed up but only a couple posted. There has not been a new post in months. I was pretty close to throwing in the towel and writing the whole thing off as another "learning experience".
However at the recent NACHC P & I, I was approached by several people wanting to know what I am planning on doing with the forum. They were very encouraging. It became obvious that FQHC.org was screaming for a makeover. With that in mind, we will be improving and reconfiguring the site shortly.
In the past two weeks, I have had a multitude of requests to join FQHC.org. I attribute this to the interest in FQHCs generated by the Obama administration plans to invest heavily in our programs. Given this renewed interest, we will be putting significant effort into meeting the needs of potential and new FQHCs. That being said, this would be a great time for you to provide input on what you would like to see in FQHC.org. If you have comments or suggestions, please email me at SDWeinman@fqhc.org. Once we have made some progress on the redesign plan, I will contact all of the members to invite and encourage renewed participation. I look forward to hearing from you.
***UPDATE*** AUGUST 10, 2009
We are working on some additional functionality and are going to try and have it up and working before the NACHC Community Health Institute commences in Chicago at the end of next week. If you are signed up, you will receive an email. Thanks you for your patience!
