This site is designed to be an online community geared towards professionals working for or with Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs). These organizations are also known as Community Health Centers, or CHCs. In order to make FQHC.ORG a place for people involved in our industry, we are going to verify that everyone in the community has a legitimate interest in providing health care to the underserved. If you are associated with an FQHC, or related entity, registration is easy and it is free! Click here or anywhere you see register now and answer a few short questions. Your registration will be validated, and if you qualify you will be enrolled. It’s that simple.

You may have noticed a lack of content on the site. Once you are registered, you will have access to all relevant content. We have several general forums to start. The system is very flexible, so we can add region, state or even health center organization specific forums as needed.

When registering you will notice that we require your name and organization. We understand that sometimes you may want to ask or answer a question anonymously. FQHC.ORG will provide the ability to do so. More information will be provided upon registration.

I have been involved with CHCs for nearly 25 years. One characteristic of our movement is an almost universal willingness to share information and experiences, and help one another. FQHC.ORG is a tool to provide a venue for collaboration.

If you don’t qualify, but would like to find out more about the Community Health Center program, The Rural Assistance Center has a very good site that explains the program nicely.

If you are a health care consumer looking for a Community Health Center in your area, the Health Resource and Services Administration of the US government has a great site, Find a Health Center which will help you out. Community Health Centers are one of the best kept secrets in the country; there is no better medical home for you and your family! Spread the word.
» Shame on us…..why every FQHC should be a NACHC member
- by Steve Weinman
For those of you who know me well, it might come as a surprise that one of my first editorials on this site would be to chastise some of my fellow health center administrators for not belonging to the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC). Well it shouldn’t. Membership in NACHC is such a good and important decision, that I am amazed that there are any health centers that do not belong.
Before I launch into my spiel, I want to get some housekeeping... [Read More]
» Welcome to FQHC.org, it’s your community
- by Steve Weinman
This online community is something that I have dreamed about for many years. In my first attempt to make it happen in 1995, I created a dial up Bulletin Board System called Community HealthNet. I think 25 people used it. After about a year, I decided that the technology was not ready for prime time, so I shut it down.
Over the past several years I have seen online communities flourish around many subjects. We join others who drive the same vehicles, listen to the

» Proposed Rule on Designation of MUPs and HPSAs-NEW INFO ADDED!
- by Steve Weinman
This is Serious Business! In summary, HRSA has released a Proposed Rule which could have serious ramifications for many Community Health Centers. The proposed rule was published in the Federal Register on February 29, 2008. The comment period ends 60 days later on April 29. The ramifications are serious-basically there appears to be some possibility that the end result could be the de-funding of an... [Read More]
